ZUNHEBOTO DISTRICT HOLDS MONTHLY DPDB MEETING

Zunheboto district held its monthly District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting on 14th July 2023 at the DC Office conference hall. The meeting was chaired by Zunheboto Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman of Zunheboto DPDB, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, IAS. Also in attendance were Zunheboto DPDB Chairman Ikuto Zhimo, Advisor Land Resources K.T. Sukhalu, IAS (Rtd.), Advisor Food and Civil Supplies and Legal Metrology Dr. Sukhato Sema.

Chairman DPDB Zunheboto, Ikuto Zhimo reiterated the importance of government officials being present in their offices and serving the public sincerely. He cautioned that actions would be taken against Heads of Offices who do not adhere to this directive. The Chairman also urged the HoOs to approach elected members or himself if they encounter any problems and requested their cooperation.

Advisor for Food and Civil Supplies and Legal Metrology, KT Sukhalu, in his speech, announced plans to send people to various offices to check their attendances. He emphasized that change should come from all the people, not just the government, and urged the HoOs and their staff to be present at their stations and serve the public sincerely.

MLA Dr. Sukhato Sema, in his speech, stressed the importance of government officials building connections with the public. He highlighted that being present at their stations is crucial for establishing these connections and urged the them to fulfill their duty in serving the people.

During the meeting, several agenda were discussed. The first agenda was the holding of the 10th inter-departmental tournament, which was initially scheduled for 10th-12th August. However, due to the upcoming Independence Day celebration, the tournament was deferred to be decided in the next DPDB meeting.

The second agenda discussed was the finalization of the Local Area Development Fund (LADF), where various proposals were put forward. After thorough discussion, the members accepted the proposals through a show of hands.

The third agenda focused on the creation of a new sub-center at Aquba in Aghunato. The members discussed and approved the establishment, which will be forwarded to higher authorities for approval.

The fourth agenda addressed the registration of a new school called Lighthouse Academy in Melahu and the upgradation of Sacred Heart School from class 5 to class 8. Based on the report from the education department, the house approved sending the proposals to higher authorities for approval.

Additionally, a PowerPoint presentation was given by Ikali Wokhami, the District Hub for Empowerment of Women's (DHEW) district mission coordinator. She explained that DHEW is an integrated program for the safety, security, and empowerment of women. DHEW, under Mission Shakti, will work as the Project Management Unit (PMU) for all the functions of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) initiatives. The objective of DHEW is to create awareness among the local masses about schemes available from various departments that women can avail of for their empowerment. The presentation highlighted the focus areas of BBBP, including education, digital literacy, sports, skill development, and health and hygiene. It also emphasized the role of PMMVY in supporting pregnant and lactating mothers. The collaboration between various departments aims to empower the women in the district and improve their quality of life.

The meeting concluded with the DC expressing gratitude to all the members for their presence and participation.
