Zunheboto District Disaster Management Authority (ZDDMA) held a meeting on 17th May 2023 at Deputy Commissioner's Conference Hall to discuss about various issues with regard to the monsoon season, chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, IAS.
The first agenda discussed was to avoid any major loss of life during landslides, flash floods, stated the DC and directed NDSMA, PWD, Health & Family Welfare departments etc. to be on high alert all the times. It was also confirmed that 30 State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel have been briefed and they will be ready in case of any disasters or emergencies.
The second agenda discussed was fire related incident. It was reported that recently, a house at Akuluto town was burnt down completely by fire, to which the DC asked the OC, Fire Brigade to be on high alert 24/7 with proper equipments in order to avoid such incidents.
The DC reminded the Food & Civil Supplies Department and Zunheboto Chamber of Commerce and industries (ZCCI) to keep food stocks ready for at least three months so as to be ready to combat any kind of disasters.
Regarding the road maintenance, the DC directed the NHIDCL and the contractors to keep the highways pliable at all the times, especially during the monsoon season.
The DC asked the Health & Family Welfare Department to be on high alert, adding that it is the responsibility of the Department to contain or control contagious water borne infectious diseases like diarrhea, malaria, dengue etc. Dr. Akaho, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Zunheboto said that though the Department has always been giving their best, due to lack of proper equipments, there are lapses and requested the DC to try to upgrade the district hospital equipments at the earliest.
DC Rahul Mali als directed the Heads of Offices to be in station and serve the people sincerely.
