The ultimate result of drug abuse is death' said Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali (IAS) while speaking to the students of Government Higher Secondary School Zunheboto at town hall Zunheboto during the programme of 'International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

He appealed to all the students to take a vow to always keep away from any kinds of intoxicating substances and to always say no to drugs.

Earlier, while delivering the introductory speech on behalf of the medical department, DPO DAPCU Zunheboto, Hokishe Chophy said the feelings of 'High' sensation on the use of any intoxicant is known as Euphoria, which mentally drives you to experience it again and again, and leads you to become a chemically-dependant person and ultimately causes addiction, for which, he said that, 'WHO' has recognized it as a disease.

A chemically-dependent person not only harms himself but this addiction puts a person to the extent of stealing or any other means to keep himself intoxicated, which affects the family and even ends up being a nuisance in the society as well, he added.

In their fight against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the district committee (NCORD), headed by Deputy Commissioner, is initiating awareness programmes in phases, which began on 24th June, covering all schools and colleges in the district. In the first phase, the district committee covered ten schools and the remaining schools and colleges shall be covered in the second phase, informed a source from the district administration.
