The Department of Home Guards, Civil Defence and State Disaster Response Force, Nagaland organized the Second Phase of Civil Defence Wardens & Volunteers Training, funded by the Directorate General of Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guards, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The training commenced from 22nd January 2026 and will continue till 29th January 2026 at Town Hall, Mon. 180 Volunteers will be participating from 5 (Five) Wards of Thamnan, Jahjon, Santham, Tompang and Chingai Ward of Mon Town.
Deputy Commissioner & Controller, Civil Defence Mon, Wennyei Konyak, while delivering the keynote Address, thanked the Government and the Department of Home Guards, Civil Defence & State Disaster Response Force, Mon for organising the training in time, since disaster may happen at any time and it’s good to be prepared. He also highlighted some manmade and natural disasters in Nagaland and its impact in the society.
Stating that the training is very essential for the future in safeguarding the citizens in times of disaster, the DC appealed to the volunteers to learn and understand properly to cope with any incident or disaster that may occurred in the future. We should be proud to avail the training and saving the lives of the people, the DC said. He also encouraged people to be well prepared to handle any disasters, and he was optimistic that the training would assist the volunteers in protecting the lives of its citizens in times of any disasters.
In his short speech, the President of Mon Town Students’ Union, Wangnyem Konyak said the Civil Defence Wardens & Volunteers are unpaid trained organisation of the Society. He encouraged the Volunteers to learn well from the training and impart the same to their community, relatives and friends to safe life.
Welcome Address was delivered by Lichemse Sangtam, District Commandant, HG, CD & SDRF, Mon, where he urged the Trainees to be attentive and regular till the end. In his chairman’s remark, Sub-Inspector, Lipoksashi urged the trainees to have an interaction with the instructors, who are well trained and experienced for proper learning and understanding.
