A three day event of 3rd Nagaland Photography Festival under the theme “Capturing Serenity “got underway at Yimchalu village, Mokokchung from 19th to 21st September 2024. The event has been organized by Photography Club Dimapur (PCD) in collaboration with Team Yimchalu to promote photography and also to provide a platform for upcoming performing artist and local entrepreneurs to exhibit their talents and products.
Gracing the opening program as the Chief Host, MLA & Advisor Law &Justice, Land Revenue, T.N. Mannen while addressing the gathering stated that photography has become an integral part of our life because it acts as an important tool that captures and preserves memorable events in our life. He went on to say that it is an art that present visual stories in all clarity and precision, transcending cultural and language barriers to act as records of the cultural heritage for future generation. Sharing his thoughts on photography as a profession, he said, with right aptitude and interest it has vast scope and range of avenues to explore ones creativity.
He also called upon all the photography enthusiasts to take full advantage of the opportunities to enhance their skills during this festival. As a word of encouragement, he said Yimchalu village has the potential to become a commercial and tourist centre because of its pleasant topography and natural resources.
Welcome address was shared by president PCD, Letminthang Kipgen, festival greetings was delivered by Yimchalu Chairman, Village Council while invocation prayer was pronounced by Pastor, Sangratsu Baptist Church.
As a part of the festival, Angler association Mokokchung organized an angling competition at the venue. The presentation ceremony of the competition was graced by MLA & Advisor, Fishery & Aquatic Resources, A. Pangjung Jamir as the special guest.
In his address during the presentation program, Jamir viewed that Angling is growing as a recreational sports as it is easily accessible across all gender and abilities. Sharing about the great potential of fishing in our state due to the available natural water resource he said, it is a bounded responsibilities for each one of us to protect this resources so that people can continue to enjoy the sport of Angling and fishing.
A photo Exhibition gallery at the venue was formally inaugurated by special guest, W. Nginyeih Konyak, Chairperson of Nagaland State Commission for Women, Government of Nagaland. She commented that photography is the only language withiout words that everyone understands. She went on to add that photography has great potential as a professional career; she therefore called for more women taking up photography as a career.
