Additional Deputy Commissioner & CEO DDMA Kiphire, Longdiba L Sangtam, NCS has informed and urged all the residents under Kiphire District to remain alert and take necessary precautions, in view of the ongoing monsoon season and the increased risk of landslides, mudslides, flash floods, and other rain-related hazards.

The general public is advised to:

1)      Avoid landslides - and mudslides-prone areas, steep slopes and vulnerable locations.

2)      Watch for warning signs such as ground cracks, falling stones, tilting trees/poles and unusual sounds.

3)      Do not approach or cross active landslides, mudslides or unstable areas.

4)      Avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall, especially on roads and routes prone to landslides and mudslides, exercise extreme caution while travelling.

5)      Do not stop or park vehicles near landslide - prone slopes, road cutting or areas with loose soil and rocks.

6)      Avoid fishing, swimming, or lingering near swollen streams, overflowing drains, and riverbeds.

7)      Do not cross flooded roads, streams or culverts with strong water flow.

8)      Keep an emergency kit ready with essential medicines, drinking water,dry food, a torch, batteries and important documents.
