Addressing at the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Government of Nagaland with the Government of India and the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation, for the formation of the “Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority” within the State of Nagaland, at New Delhi on the 5th of February 2026, Nagaland Chief Minister, Dr. Neiphiu Rio has announced that the historic agreement is a testament to the State Government’s commitment to ensuring equitable and inclusive development and the continued efforts to reach out to all parts and regions of the State.
Dr, Rio expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi and the Union Home Minister of India, Amit Shah for their statesmanship and support all along, leading to the signing of the Agreement. He also extended gratitude to the Union Home Secretary and the State Government officials led by the Chief Secretary, Nagaland, for this achievement, and to the ENPO led by its President for their support and cooperation in signing this important Agreement.
Dr. Rio strongly hopes and believes that this Agreement will showcase mutual trust among all sections and will address the aspirations of the people of the Eastern Nagaland region and the people of the State of Nagaland in general, by taking development right to the doorsteps of every citizen of Nagaland. The CM also congratulated the brothers and sisters of Eastern Nagaland on this significant milestone and complimented each and every one of them for the journey that they have undertaken to achieve this landmark.
Dr. Rio also assured to extend his fullest cooperation and support in this collective aspiration to strive towards progress and development for every section of Naga society. All the Naga tribes join you in celebration, as this is not just an achievement of the eastern people, but a victory for the entire Naga society, he remarked. Extending gratitude to the Government of India, Dr. Rio asserted that it is our hope and aspiration that the Centre will continue to help, assist and guide us in our quest for all-round development.
