Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B Henok Buchem has issued an Order stating that unused and loosely hanging overhead cables and pipes detract from city's aesthetic appeal; and such cables and pipes pose electrical, fire and safety hazards; increase risks during natural disasters and obstruct emergency operations; impede the movement of heavy vehicles; and endanger pedestrians and public safety in case of breakage or fall.

Therefore, in the larger interest of public safety, aesthetics and orderly urban infrastructure, all telecommunications companies, internet service providers, cable TV operators, water supply agencies and other concerned entities in Kohima District have been directed to:

Remove all redundant, abandoned and unused overhead cables and pipes within 7(Seven) days from 21st November 2025 onwards.

And also bundle, sleeve and securely fasten all active overhead cables and pipes as per approved technical standards within the same period.

Non-complaint cables/pipes shall be removed by competent authority without further notice, at the expense of the defaulting entity.
