Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B Henok Buchem, NCS has issued an order stating that dust and debris from uncovered building construction sites pollute the air, thereby degrading its quality.
Also uncovered building construction activities generate excessive noise, contributing to noise pollution; and pose safety risks, as falling parts, tools, equipment, machinery, or structural collapses may endanger human life and property.
Therefore, in the interest of public health, safety and environmental protection, all building construction firms, agencies, and individuals in Kohima District have been directed to cover construction sites with perimeter hoarding, debris netting, scaffold shrink-wrap, Monarflex sheeting or equivalent measures.
Further it stated that any destruction, defacement of public property, harm to human life or livestock caused by such negligence, shall attract strict penalties under relevant provision of Law.
