Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Wennyei Konyak, NCS informed all the Citizens of Mon that, a report have been received regarding the outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) in certain areas of Nagaland, including adjoining districts. The disease being highly a contagious viral disease poses a serious threat to pig populations, requiring immediate preventive and containment measures to stop further transmission.
It has become necessary to regulate and restrict the movement and export and import of pigs and pig-related products from Mon District and import from outside the district in the interest of public safety, animal health, and disease containment;
Therefore, in exercise of powers conferred under the relevant provisions of law and in the interest of public safety, animal health and disease containment to prevent the spread of ASF, the undersigned hereby orders the following with immediate effect:
1. Export and import and transportation of live pigs from Mon District to other districts and outside the State and import from other District and outside the State is hereby prohibited until further orders.
2. No person, trader, transporter, firm, or association shall transport, export, import or facilitate movement of pigs from Mon District and to Mon District without prior clearance and certification from the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services.
3. There shall be total band on sell of pork in the entire District till such time the ASF is neutralized.
4. All check gates, police personnel, veterinary officials and administrative officers shall strictly monitor and enforce this order.
5. Any pig found exhibiting symptoms of ASF, including sudden death, high fever, weakness, skin discoloration, or abnormal behaviour, shall immediately be reported to the nearest Veterinary authority.
6. Slaughter, sale, or transportation of suspected infected pigs is strictly prohibited.
7. Village Councils, ward authorities, GBs and public leaders are directed to cooperate fully with the District Administration and veterinary department in surveillance, reporting, and containment measures.
8. Any person violating this order shall be liable for penal action under relevant provisions of law, including the Disaster Management Act, epidemic-related regulations, and other applicable laws.
This order shall remain in force until further orders. Issued on the 21st May 2026.
