Under Birth Registration-Based Aadhaar Enrolment Initiative, the District Economics & Statistics Office, Mon Distributed IT Equipments on 24th April 2026 at DC’s Conference Hall, Mon.
Additional Director of Economics & Statistics, Nagaland, Charles Kikon said that distribution of IT equipment is to strengthen the grassroots digital registration system, enabling a faster, more accurate and entirely online process for vital statistics. He said Mon district was given 33 IT sets and urged all the concerned officials and staff to make the best use of these resources.
ADC Mon, Pakon Phom, while addressing said that Birth and Death Certificate is an important Legal Documents where all our details are mentioned and is our right to get this certificate. Mentioning that Aadhaar registration is less in Mon District, he encouraged the officials to impart the knowledge of Aadhaar to the people, adding that it is an important document to avail all those government schemes and funds. Pakon appeals to the concerned officials to be very responsible and sincere in their work, to get an accurate record in our demographic. As a responsible citizen, he urged to utilize the government facilities professionally and expressed gratitude to the Government and the department of Economics & Statistics for giving the highest number of IT set to Mon District. Later, Pakon launched the Aadhar Registration of Children age group of 0 – 5 years.
SDO Civil, Nchumthung Ezung said that Distribution of IT Equipment marked an important step toward strengthening our system of Civil Registration. The distribution reflects our collective commitment to digitization, transparency and efficiency in public service delivery. Birth & Death registration is a fundamental responsibility of governance that provides legal identity, support planning & policy making and ensure that every citizen is counted. Ezung stated that by introducing modern IT infrastructure, we are not only improving in record keeping but also making the service faster and more accurate. He also said that this initiative will enable real time data management, providing a step forward in aligning our district with the broader vision of Digital India and good governance.
Wangmoi Konyak, IOS, incharge of Births & Deaths, DESO office, Mon, briefed the status of Digitization in the District. He stated that there are 154 Registration units in Mon, out of which 98 Villages are actively doing online registration of Birth & Death. He also mentioned that since the inception of online registration of Birth & Death, 2605 new birth were registered, 2671 Old birth Certificate digitized and 51 Death have been registered. The programme was chaired by Yhunchilo Khing, District Economics & Statistics Officer, Mon.
