The Directorate of School Education has informed on The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), an Autonomous Institution under the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, providing educational opportunities through Open and Distance Learning to learners seeking to pursue and complete their education with a mission of “Education for All”.

NIOS gives special focus to Girls and Women, Rural Youth, Working Individuals, SC/ST, BPL categories, Sportspersons, Differently Abled Learners, and other Disadvantaged Groups.

The NIOS conducts Public Examinations at the Secondary (Class X) and Senior Secondary (Class XII) levels twice a year, in the month of April and October. Further, NIOS also conducts On Demand Examinations (ODEs) for Secondary and Senior Secondary courses in two blocks of the respective academic year i.e., from December to March and June to September.

As per the provisions governing admissions under Stream-2 of NIOS, the unsuccessful candidates of Secondary (Class X) and Senior Secondary (Class XII) examinations are eligible to appear in the ensuing Public Examination scheduled to be conducted in the month of Oct/Nov 2026 under Stream-2. Such learners may also avail the opportunity of appearing in the On Demand Examinations (ODEs) under Stream -3 (Class X) and Stream-4 (Class XII) scheduled to be conducted during the period from June to September -2026.

Detailed procedure for admission, prescribed fee structure, other relevant guidelines are made available at https://sdmis.nios.ac.in . Interested Students/Parents/Guardians are advised to make use of the opportunities for continuing their education by taking Admission for appropriate courses.
