In order to ensure cleanliness, enhancing hygiene and beautification of the public places and areas, the Home Department through a notification has directed to conduc a mass social work at Kohima Town on 28th November, 2025 from 06.00 AM onwards on account of the up-coming festive season and the ensuing Hornbill Festival. The mass social work will be conducted with active participation of all Government employees, Kohima Municipal Council, NGOs and general public in all the Wards.
In order to carry out the mass social work successfully, a location wise work distribution is indicated as under:

3. The ADC, Kohima (Contact No. 8731815626) shall be the overall in-charge of the Mass Social Work, and he shall be assisted by the CEO, KMC.
4. There should be shutter-down of all shops and business establishments till 12.00 noon.
5. Each Department assigned for the designated location for the social work will have to arrange disposal trucks for clearing the debris/waste collected in their respective locations/areas.
6. Mass social work on roads not covered by the Government Departments shall be carried out by the respective Wards. The DC, Kohima and KMC are requested to issue necessary instructions to all the Wards.
7. The Councilors shall supervise the mass social work in their respective Ward jurisdiction and ensure maximum public participation.
8. The Departments will be wholly responsible for cleaning and disposal in their assigned areas. They shall be responsible for any unfinished work even if it spills over to the next day. Attendance shall be taken by the Departmental Heads and forwarded to the DC Kohima on the same day for onward submission to the Government
9. All disposal of waste shall be done at landfill dumping site at Meriema
10. PWD (R&B) may co-ordinate with NHIDCL to demarcate the relevant portions for their work.
11. Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) will take necessary steps for putting up proper signages/displays of Ward/Colony name, landmarks, public utility etc in Kohima Town.
12. The DIPR shall make arrangement for wide publicity through AIR/Doordarshan/Print Media as well as announcement through PA systems.
13. Departments whose names do not figure in the list may send their staff for social work in the New Secretariat Junction to High School Junction.
