Home Department, General Administration Branch-II, Nagaland has declared the day of polling, i.e. 16 June, 2026 (Tuesday) for Ward No. 11 (Chaara) under Chumoukedima Town Council, Ward No. 8 (Tsumang 'B') under Wokha Town Council and Ward No. 9 (Samba Ghoki) under Atoizu Town Council as Paid Holiday for all the employees of the State Government and Central Government registered as electors in the E-toll under the said Ward to enable them to participate and exercise their franchise. This shall also apply to all such categories of employees who are enrolled as electors under the aforesaid Wards but are ordinarily residing or working in another ward area.
Further, under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (Act, XXVI), the day of polling is also declared as Paid Holiday for all the employees of Banks and Financial Institutions in Nagaland who are registered as electors in the aforesaid Wards to enable them to exercise their franchise’
Furthermore, under Section 10 of Nagaland Shops and Establishment Act 1982, all such shops and Commercial Establishments under the aforementioned Wards owned/managed/run by persons registered as electors in the said Wards shall remain closed during the polling hours on the polling day to enable such electors to exercise their franchise.
Further, in the event of a re-poll, the day fixed by the State Election Commission for such re-poll shall also be observed as a Public Holiday for the aforesaid electors.
The above provisions, however, shall not apply to any elector whose absence may cause danger or substantial loss in respect of the employment in which he/she is engaged.
