The Kohima District Road Safety Committee, under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant, IAS during its meeting held on January 17, 2025, constituted the annual ‘Kohima District Road Safety Award’—a district-level award with Citations and a Cash Award of ₹10,000 each. This award is given to three individuals, groups, organizations, or departments contributing to road safety.

A Selection Committee was formed with Rhosietho Nguori, NCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, as the Convener, and Additional SP (Traffic & Protocol), the Regional Transport Officer, and the President of Angami Youth Organisation as members.

Accordingly, the following organizations have been awarded the Kohima District Road Safety Award for 2024-2025 in recognition of their contributions:

1.      Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO):

Recognized for overall road safety measures and initiatives undertaken in and around Kohima. KVYO has also supported the District Administration and Police in improving the traffic situation in Kohima and managing parking facilities in the interest of public safety.

2.      Kigwema Youth Organisation (KYO):

Recognized for selfless services in saving lives during vehicular accidents in Kigwema village. KYO has also facilitated the installation of road safety signage, metal and concrete crash barriers at critical locations, and the timely maintenance of the National Highway in close coordination with implementing agencies.

3.      D- Block Youth Organisation:  Recognized for conducting road safety awareness activities for two-wheeler riders along the highway.

The awards were presented during the Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting on February 15, 2025, by Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, MLA & Chairman, DPDB, Kohima, Kevipodi Sophie, MLA, and Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, Kohima District Road Safety Committee.
