A Mini Legal Services Camp was conducted at Peren Town Hall on 16th May 2026, under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority in collaboration with the Peren District Legal Services Authority and the District Administration Peren.
The initiative aims to strengthen legal awareness among citizens and promote the vision of “Access to Justice for All” through community outreach and public engagement programmes.
The camp brings together judicial officers, district administration, Heads of Departments, legal practitioners and educational institutions to spread awareness on legal rights, consumer protection and the importance of legal aid services.
The programme features a special address by Hiazu Meru, Deputy Commissioner, Peren, who emphasizes the importance of coordinated efforts between the administration and legal institutions in ensuring public welfare and awareness. He explained that the constitutional provision was introduced to guarantee that no individual is denied justice because of financial constraints or lack of awareness. Emphasis was also laid on extending legal support to economically and educationally backward communities and creating greater awareness on access to justice.
One of the major highlights of the event is the presentation titled “Consumer Justice Quest” conducted by PDLSA along with the Legal Literacy Club of Peren Government College, focusing on consumer rights and legal safeguards available to the public.
A welcome address was delivered by N. Longshithung Ezung, NJS, District & Session Judge, Peren-cum-Chairman, PDLSA, highlighting the significance of legal literacy and public participation in strengthening justice delivery mechanisms at the grassroots level.
The keynote address was delivered by Neiko Akami, NJS, Member Secretary, NSLSA, who officially inaugurates the Mini Legal Services stalls and underscores the commitment of NSLSA towards making legal services accessible to every section of society, especially the marginalized and vulnerable communities.
Adv. Lhingneinem Hangshing, Chief LADC, PDLSA chaired the program while the invocation was led by S Haigangbeu Hengame, Youth Secretary, ZBCC.
The event concludes with a vote of thanks proposed by Khrievonou Seletsu, NJS, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, PDLSA.
