National Press Day was celebrated at DBDIL Hall, Don Bosco School, Dimapur on 16th November 2024. The event was organised by the Dimapur Press Club. The program highlighted the evolving role of the media in the 21st century and its relevance in modern society. 

K Temjen Jamir, Editor of Tir Yimyim described November 16 as the "Independent Day" for the press, where he mentioned the role of Press Council of India especially in the area of press freedom and journalist integrity.

Jamir also mentioned about the changing nature of the press especially in the atmosphere of rapid technological advancement and said misinformation and fake news is a great challenge to the press fraternity and encouraged the members present to work diligently.

The emergence of Artificial Intelligence that helps us like news editing and translation but warned of risks including job displacement and ethical concern.

While delivering a short speech, Dr Akum Longchari Editor and Publisher, Morung Express raised the concern of the gap between fake news and feelings that is moving further apart and urged the members present to be cautious, honesty and to maintain integrity.

Earlier, welcome address was delivered be Imkong Walling, President Dimapur Press Club (DPC) and concluded with vote of thanks by Akangjungla general secretary DPC. The program was chaired by Henlly Phom.
