The Nagaland Education Project—The Lighthouse (NECTAR) has informed that one of its interventions, the Performance Incentive Grants (PIG), has been awarded the “CIPS Innovation Award 2024” in the education sector.

The NECTAR states that the awarding body, the Centre for Innovations in Public Systems (CIPS), Hyderabad, is an autonomous centre of the Administrative Staff College of India, established by the Government of India. As a national body, the mission of CIPS is“to help create and nurture a climate for accelerating and diffusing innovations in public systems.” To accomplish this mission, CIPS honours the best innovative practices by scouting and spawning new innovations that will bring about positive changes in the culture as well as the structure of governance across states.

Through the PIG, a total of 1,914 School Management Committees (SMCs) and School Management and Development Committees (SMDCs) have received capacity-building support across Nagaland. With the active participation of the SMCs and SMDCs, along with the selfless contributions of the communities, the PIG is successfully improving the learning environments of Government schools and enhancing the sense of ownership and responsibility among the community.

The cooperation and inputs from the community leaders and members have been instrumental in driving the progress. NECTAR has extended appreciation to all the SMCs and SMDCs for their dedication and looks forward to their continued partnership in the days to come.
