Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer, made an obituary reference in the House on the passing of Late Dr. Longrineken, a two-time Member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, who passed away on 7th March 2026 at his residence in Aoyim Village under Chümoukedima. He was 59.
            Born on 8th June 1967 at Khar Village under Mokokchung, Late Dr. Longrineken completed his BVSc & AH from the College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, Khanapara under Assam Agricultural University in 1992 and served as a Veterinary Assistant Surgeon before entering politics.
            He was elected to the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly in 2013 from 29–Jangpetkong constituency on the ticket of the Naga People’s Front and was re-elected in 2018 on the ticket of the Bharatiya Janata Party. During his tenure, he served in various capacities including Advisor and Chairman of important committees.
            The Speaker stated that Late Dr. Longrineken served the people with dedication and his contributions would always be remembered. With his passing, the people of Nagaland, particularly the Ao community and Jangpetkong constituency, have lost a committed leader.
