Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Nagaland S Phangnon Konyak raised a Special Mention urging the Government to increase investment in and strengthen the sports infrastructure in Nagaland during the Parliament Session in New Delhi on 28th March 2025,.
Highlighting the immense potential of youth in the state, Konyak emphasized the need for upgraded facilities, modern training centers, and better resources to nurture sporting talent. She stressed that despite the growing enthusiasm for sports, the lack of adequate infrastructure continues to be a major challenge for athletes from Nagaland.
She expressed that in the recent years, the youth of Nagaland have demonstrated remarkable talent and determination in various sporting disciplines. However, the absence of proper infrastructure limits their opportunities to compete at the national and international levels. It is imperative to bridge this gap by enhancing existing facilities and create new avenues for sports development in the state.
She urged the Government to allocate necessary funds and formulate a comprehensive plan to support aspiring sportspersons from Nagaland, ensuring that they receive quality training and exposure.
