The vaccination drive aims to immunize 2,50,000 numbers of Pigs susceptible against CSF, a highly contagious and economically devastating disease that affects Pig population. The program is crucial in preventing the spread of CSF, which can have severe consequences on the Piggery industry and livelihoods of Piggery farmers.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. B.M. Sunep, the Additional Director & HoD of AH&VS emphasized the importance of vaccination in controlling & eradication of CSF. Vaccination is a crucial strategy for preventing disease outbreaks in livestock. When combined with strict bio security measures, such as controlling access to farms, disinfecting equipment, and monitoring animal health, vaccination can significantly reduce the risk of disease transmission. These practices not only safeguard their own operations but also protect surrounding agricultural communities from potential outbreaks. By integrating vaccination with robust bio security protocols, the Animal Husbandry sector can enhance its resilience against infectious diseases.

The vaccination program is being implemented under Livestock Health & Disease Control/Classical Swine Fever-Control Programme (LH & DC/CSF-CP), Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying, and Fisheries, Government of India.

The vaccination is free of cost, and livestock owners are encouraged to take advantage of this initiative and to cooperate with the district & field officials to get their animals vaccinated to protect their livelihood.

Furthermore, the Department requested the District Administration, Village Council Authorities to encourage the villagers & farmers to vaccinate their Livestock compulsorily.
