In commemoration of World Environment Day 2025, the Sustainable Development Goals Coordination Centre (SDGCC) under the Department of Planning & Transformation in collaboration with Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School (RGHSS), Kohima, organized a plogging drive from High School Junction to the school campus on 5th June 2025.

The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from SDG Youth Ambassadors, Eco Club members, NSS volunteers, NSS Programme Officer and teachers of RGHSS, reflecting the commitment of young changemakers to promoting environmental sustainability.

The key objective of this initiative was to reaffirm our commitment to environmental action and to mobilize collective efforts in addressing environmental challenges and promoting a sustainable future.

Delivering the message, Heinswading, Deputy Development Commissioner, highlighted that plogging—a unique blend of jogging and picking up litter—is more than just a fitness activity. It symbolizes how small, consistent actions, when taken collectively, can lead to meaningful change. "Every piece of litter we pick up today is a step toward a cleaner, more sustainable community. Our actions send a strong message—that young people are not just the future, but active leaders of change today," he said. He also expressed his appreciation to the SDG Youth Ambassadors, Eco Club members, NSS volunteers, programme officers, and Teachers of RGHSS for their active participants and support.
