The first phase training of Civil Defence (CD) Wardens/Volunteers training was successfully conducted at Town Hall, Mokokchung on 24th November 2025. The training was organised from 18th to 24th November 2025 by the Department of Home Guards, Civil Defence and State Disaster Response Force, Nagaland. 

The programme aims to empower and strengthen communities, equipping them with the essential skills and knowledge needed to save lives, minimise damage to property, and maintain the morale and continuity of essential services during emergencies like hostile attacks or natural disaster. This involves protecting citizens and infrastructure through prevention, preparedness, timely response and recovery efforts.

Delivering the closing address, Neithozo Theunuo, EAC congratulated the trainees and expressed profound gratitude to the HG, CD, & SDRF for their unwavering dedication and service. 

Neithozo emphasised the critical role of wardens and volunteers during war times and emergencies, serving as a pillar of strength for communities in distress. He highlighted the government's formal recognition of the vital role performed by CD Wardens and Volunteers, mentioning the official issuance of ID cards and certificates as a testament to their valued contributions.

Furthermore, Neithozo encouraged the participants to share their valuable experiences and insights gained during their training. He concluded his address by urging volunteers to return for future training sessions, emphasising the necessity of continuous upskilling to effectively meet the evolving challenges of disaster management and civil defence.

Assamwati, Council chairman of Chungtia Village and representative of the trainees also shared insights and positive feedback regarding the training.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Lanutemjen, Company Commander, HG, CD & SDRF/CD Deputy Controller, Mokokchung. He expressed his gratitude to the district administration, Senior SP, DPRO, Ao Senden, Watsu, Village Councils and MMC for their support during the training period. 

Abovi K. Awomi, instructor Havildar HG, CD & SDRF, Mokokchung delivered the closing remark, offering final words of encouragement to the trainees as they move forward.
