Additional Chief Electoral officer & PIO N. Moa Aier in the press conference briefed on 29th September 2020, that the Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for bye-election to fill the casual vacancy in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from 14-Southern-Angami -1 and 60-Pungro Kiphire Assembly Constituency. Additional Chief Electoral Officer & PIO N. Moa Aier stated that date of issue of gazette notification will be on 9-10-2020, the last date of nomination is 16-10-2020 and date of scrutiny of nominations will be held on 17-10-2020 and also the last date for withdrawal of candidatures will be on 19-10-2020. The date of polling will be 3-11-2020 while the date of counting will be on 10-11-2020. PIO also informed that the date before which election shall be completed will be on 12-11-2020. He also informed that the Model Code of Conduct comes into force with immediate effect in the districts of Kohima and Kiphire in which the whole or any part of the assembly constituencies going for bye-election is included, subject to partial modification.
N Moa Aier said as per the guidelines of election commission of India every person shall wear face mask during every election related activity. He also stated that Social Distancing shall be maintain as per the extant COVID-19 guidelines of the state government and ministry of home affairs. Adequate number of vehicles shall be mobilized for movement of polling personal, security personal to ensure compliance of COVID-19 guidelines. He also said that Nodal Health Officer shall be designated for the state, the district and the Assembly constituency to oversee COVID-19 related arrangements and preventive measures during entire electoral process.
N Moa Aier highlighted the basic electoral roll of the 14th Southern Angami-1 A/C and said that the total voters of 13541 will exercise their voting rights meanwhile, 60-Pungro Kiphire A/C will be witnessing 29346 votes.
