The Department of AH & Veterinary Services distributed sheep and goats to the farmers under the National Livestock Mission. This scheme is being launched in a few districts with the objective to introduce rearing of sheep and goat as a low investment but fast remunerative way of farming. As the meat consumption in the State is very high, the Department stated that it will also be an alternative source of meat for the consumers.

The animals were handed to the respective district official by Dr. Nsanthung Ezung, Additional Director & HoD, Directorate of AH & VS, Nagaland in the presence of officials from the Directorate and District CVOs.
