ATMA Kohima organized a Farmers Training cum Exposure Visit to Dimapur and Chumoukedima district from 27th–28th May 2022. A team of 20 farmers accompanied by 4 officials from Tseminyu and Chinlikha block with team leader Keviu Shuya and Rokosenuo Angela, (Deputy Project Director, ATMA) visited various institutions during the visit.
The visiting team was received by Alemtemsu, Officer in Charge for State Horticulture Nursery (Green Park) where he highlighted various activities being taken up by the department. Resource person Chenithung, AHO, and Temjenwapang, HEA trained and demonstrated air layering of litchi and mango grafting. Resource person Imtitemsu, FTA taught the visiting team about various edible mushrooms and their production technology. The team also visited high-tech poly houses & nurseries.
At Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre, Dimapur resource person Mezovolhou Marcus Ovung, Instructor showed the visiting team various training units and agriculture-related machinery such as paddy thrasher, palm leaf plate maker, pallet and feeds maker, pineapple fiber and banana fiber extractor, sun dryer, meat drying machine, and maize sheller machine were shown and their functioning and purposes were highlighted.
The team also visited a mushroom unit at Aoyimkum village where the Director of Konger Agritech Dr. Sosang Longkumer interacted and taught the visiting team about the commercial aspects of mushroom cultivation like raw materials, hygiene, housing, etc.
Later the team visited an agricultural input dealer outlet at the supermarket to make the farmer aware of agricultural seeds, tools, implements, organic fertilizers, nutrients, etc.
