Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers (NBOCW) Welfare Board conducted an awareness campaign on building and other construction workers at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall Kiphire, on 6th June 2022 and was graced by Deputy Speaker NLA, T Yangseo Sangtam.

Dy Speaker Sangtam stated that due to the pandemic situation hundreds of youths from Kiphire had returned home from outside who were working in different fields outside Nagaland and this had created unemployment issues in the District. So he opined that the awareness campaign will open the eyes of the people of Kiphire and will benefit them and urged all the beneficiaries to avail all the scheme and policy that is being provided by the Government.

Sangtam also appealed to the participants to disseminate information to other participants at the village level to get them to enroll and avail the opportunity provided by the Government for the upliftment of construction workers. While stressing about the benefits of getting enrolled in the NBOCW Welfare Board, he informed that up to two children will be provided with scholarships in high school for those enrolled workers.

Later he stated that the NBOCWWB awareness campaign will benefit all the participants and will also improve the economic status in the district as the Government cannot provide jobs to everybody.

Dr. Kekhrie Yhome, Chairman NBOCWWB stated that proper screening will be done to identify the skilled workers to bar those participants who are not entitled to availing the benefits. He also said that those participants who are left out this year will be enrolled next year.

The program was chaired by T Chubayanger, CEO, NBOCWWB followed by the distribution of publicity material and interactive and registration of participants.
