Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyaan, Mon in collaboration with the convergence department Mon, held an “Awareness Campaign on Removal of Social Stigma around Covid 19” at Konyak Union (KU) Conference Hall Mon on 26th September 2020, with Ward Leaders, Anganwadi Workers and Mon Town Churches Pastors. 

Phelei, Block Coordinator Aboi Block chaired the programme. Welcome and introductory address was conveyed by Tongwang Yanlem CDPO, Mon Block. Dr Shashinle Tep DPO, UIP & RCH Mon as a resource person delivered a massage on the awareness campaign. Dr Tep presented with the background of Covid 19, its signs and symptoms and method of prevention. The presentation also took us through the myths and facts of Covid 19. No one should stigmatize the COVID 19 patient as Covid is like any other disease. The process of treatment and diagnose needs to be understood. The social Stigma around Covid 19 can be minimized by being informed about the disease and by educating the community about myths and facts on Covid 19. He said that “The Virus does not discriminate; so we should not discriminate the COVID 19 patient.”

Rahul Mali IAS Additional Deputy Commissioner Mon, Wennyei Konyak Project Director DRDA, Hangsa Konyak ADPM, NRLM delivered a short speech respectively related to Social Awareness and Change of Social Behavior. Eunice Thalih, Coordinator, Childline Mon gave a brief introduction on CHILDLINE Mon, which will be officially launched very shortly.
