As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative, the Kohima Municipal Council organized a workshop cum awareness program on plastic waste management and segregation of waste, at KMC Office, Kohima on 25th March 2022
Speaking on the occasion, Administrator, KMC, Lanusenla Longkumer stated that plastic waste has worsen since the pandemic, polluting the whole of Kohima town which would create ill effect for the environment as well as every individual, which was a collective failure. She urged every individual to have a sense of self responsibility to manage waste segregation and to sensitized each other before the air becomes unbreathable and urged the public to use single plastic reusable or recycle to keep the city healthy and clean. Longkumer informed that composting and to enforce not to throw plastic wastes in drainage and streets will start soon. She thanked the ZübZüb team for their tireless efforts for a cleaner Kohima
Assistant Chief Inspector KMC Neilhouphrelie spoke on the plastic waste and segregation
Founder ZübZüb, Pelenuo while sharing her journey on cleaning Kohima town, mentioned that the main goal of zübzüb was to educate and sensitized the people about how to keep the town clean and free from pollution and the team has been continuously cleaning the streets for free from the month of June 2021 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM every day. She urged the people to maintain waste management to keep the surroundings beautiful.
Sharing on Plastic Vision, India Waste Solution, an NGO, the team leader, Vizashe Mekro, informed that plastic bank will be set up in every ward and colony very soon and later in other districts too, where every household can donate any kind of plastic, including sweets wrappers, for recycling.
Gwizan Organics Technology, Roko Savino shared about the usage of organic manual called Green Bran.
