“Good evening,

As at 4 P.M. today, a total of ­­­875 samples have been sent for testing from the State. The results of 848 samples have been received and all have been tested as negative. The results for the remaining 27 samples are awaited.

The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India held a Video Conference today with all the Hon’ble Chief Ministers of the States on the COVID-19 situation and the lockdown measures and the way forward. The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Nagaland briefed about the steps taken by the State for implementation of the lockdown, the measures taken for alleviating the distress of the people of Nagaland stranded outside, as well as the migrant workers inside the State due to the lockdown, the ongoing inter-district movement of stranded people within the State, and also the modalities being put in place for the stranded people of the State desiring to come back to Nagaland. The Hon’ble Chief Minister also in view of the need for bringing the people of the State back in an orderly manner, requested for allowing only movement of Special Trains, and keeping on hold resumption of regular passenger train and air services for some more time. The Hon’ble Chief Minister in the meeting was accompanied by the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, the Hon’ble Minister Planning and Coordination, the Chief Secretary and senior officials of the State.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister also had a meeting with the representatives of NBCC, Joint Christian Forum, and APO, AWO, AYO and ASU at Kohima today, and discussed on the COVID-19 situation and the matter regarding the return of the stranded citizens of the State back to Nagaland. The situation arising in the State owing to the Nationwide lockdown was discussed, and the need for taking comprehensive measures to become self reliant particularly in food grains and other food items was also highlighted. The matter relating to burial of the body in the event of someone dying unfortunately because of COVID-19; in the village or church burial grounds without any discrimination, after observing all the laid down precautions was also deliberated upon. The Hon’ble Chief Minister in the meeting was accompanied by the Hon’ble Minister for PWD (Housing & Mechanical), Hon’ble Advisor, Urban Development & Municipal Affairs and Shri Khriehu Liezietsu, Hon’ble MLA, Chief Secretary and other senior officials.

I would like to inform that as of 12:00 noon today, 18,282 citizens of Nagaland stranded in different parts of the country desiring to come back to Nagaland by Government arranged transportation have applied through the returnees’ declaration form in the website iamstranded.nagaland.gov.in.

The cooperation and support of everyone is solicited in fighting against COVID-19.
