BRIEFING ON COVID-19 ON 30TH JULY 2020 FOR NAGALAND BY PRINCIPAL SECRETARY, HOME

“A meeting of the High Powered Committee (HPC) on Covid-19 was held under the Chairmanship of the Hon'ble Chief Minister, Nagaland with the Co-Chairman, the Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister along with the members, the Hon'ble Minister, Health & Family Welfare, the Hon'ble Minister, Planning & Coordination, LR & Parliamentary Affairs, the Chief Secretary Nagaland, Additional Chief Secretary & Development Commissioner and senior officials of the State Government.
The High Powered Committee was briefed by the Home and Health Departments on the overall COVID-19 situation in the State. The School Education Department briefed on the various measures being taken to ensure continuous learning of the students through both offline and online modes during the lock down period. The Higher & Technical Department also mentioned about the various steps being taken for ensuring learning of the students through online modes.
The High Powered Committee on COVID-19 deliberated on the existing lockdown measures and decided to continue with the ongoing lock down measures in Nagaland further up till the 31st of August 2020. The HPC also reiterated that respective District Task Force on COVID-19 are empowered to take decisions on imposition of stricter or additional lockdown measures as per their assessment of the local conditions in their respective districts. It was also reiterated that Schools and colleges will continue to remain closed.
The total number of positive cases in the State as on today stands at 1,566. The positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 Hospitals and COVID-19 Care Centres. Active surveillance and contact tracing is also in progress to prevent further spreading of the infection.
Out of the 1,566 positive cases, the total active cases are 935 and there are 4 deaths. As per the severity of symptoms, all the 935 active cases are asymptomatic.
Till date, a total of 23,703 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR and results of 21,507 samples have been received. Out of the 16,513 samples received at the BSL-3 lab at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK), a total of 14,471 samples have been tested and 1,071 samples have tested positive. In addition, a total of 15,895 samples have been sent for testing on Truenat.
A total of 2,502 persons are presently under Facility Quarantine.”
