The full text of the statement on the status of COVID-19 in Nagaland as on 9th April 2020 given by the Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha IAS is as follows:

“I would like to inform that today the Hon’ble Chief Minister in a meeting reviewed the COVID-19 situation and the state of preparedness of the Health Department. The meeting was attended by several Hon’ble Ministers, Advisors and Senior Officers.

As at 5:00 pm today, a total of 69 samples of suspected cases have been sent from testing. The results of 65 samples have been received and they are all negative. The results of the remaining 4 samples are awaited.

I would like to inform that an advisory has been issued by the Government today advising all the persons planning to return to Nagaland on resumption of commercial flight services to Dimapur to postpone their return for the time being. For those whose return is unavoidable, they may take note that upon landing at Dimapur Airport they will be medically screened and thereafter taken to institutional quarantine centres designated by the Govt. of Nagaland at Dimapur, where they will have to mandatorily undergo minimum 14 days quarantine. It may be noted that all inter-state borders will continue to remain sealed till further orders.

I would also like to inform that the State Government has ordered for conduct of a Magisterial Inquiry by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Nuiland, into the incident involving Dr, Nosezol Sezo, an Orthopaedic Surgeon of Civil Hospital, Dimapur who reportedly was assaulted and his vehicle damaged while he was returning home on the 3rd April 2020 by the Police personnel who were on duty enforcing the lockdown measures. The Inquiry will go into all the facts and circumstance leading to the incident and fix responsibilities on those guilty. The Inquiry Officer has been asked to submit the report latest by the 18th April 2020.

The position of availability of food grains, medicines, POL and other essential goods and commodities continue to be normal in the State. I conclude by thanking our people for their continued support and adherence to all the lockdown measures.”
