A district-level Unity March (Pad Yatra) was organised by MY Bharat Chümoukedima in coordination with the District Administration to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 3rd Novembe2025, with a "Unity Walk" from CTC Office, Chümoukedima till Patkai Christian College. The event, held under the theme “Let Us Walk for Unity, Rise for Nation”, aimed to promote the spirit of Ek Bharat, Aatmanirbhar Bharat and to pay tribute to the Iron man of India for his pivotal role in national integration.

The Padayatra was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner, Polan John, who delivered an inspiring address during the Unity Walk held in commemoration of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary celebrated as National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas).

Deputy Commissioner, Chumoukedima, Polan John, in his speech, highlighted Sardar Patel’s pivotal role in uniting more than 560 princely states to form a strong and independent India. He described Patel as a timeless symbol of courage, leadership and national integration, whose legacy continues to inspire generations

“Patel’s life teaches us that unity, determination, discipline and integrity can transform a nation,” he stated. Urging citizens, especially the youth to uphold these values and emphasized that the true spirit of nation-building lies in respecting differences and working together for a common purpose.

Concluding his address, John called upon everyone to “take inspiration from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s life and work towards building a nation that is united, prosperous and full of harmony.”

Ninoto Zhimomi, Assistant Commissioner of Police, encouraged the youth and delivered an inspiring message highlighting the importance of unity in diversity and collective responsibility for nation-building. “Witness how diversity and unity bring strength together,” Zhimomi stated emphasizing that the Naga people have long practiced and promoted harmony and cooperation. He noted that trust among citizens- especially as police officers serves as the foundation for peace and progress. Stating that Impossible becomes possible when we work together, he reminded participants that every individual has a vital role in building peace and advancing the nation’s growth.

Guests of honour, Dr. Thepfuvilie Pieru, Principal of Patkai Christian College also encouraged the youth to continue their engagement in social causes and uphold the values of discipline, empathy, and teamwork.

Delivering the presidential address, District Youth Officer, Korada Manikanta emphasized the vision of My Bharat in nurturing responsible and proactive citizens through collective action and volunteerism.

The event also saw inspiring youth speeches from D. Chiluni and Nuvekholu Dozo, who spoke about leadership, civic responsibility, and the power of young voices in shaping the future.

The programme featured a cultural performance by the NSS students of Patkai Christian College, setting an energetic tone for the day. Leiyolan Cecelia served as the chairperson and invited the guests to the stage. Mementos were presented to participants and speakers in recognition of their contributions.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by K. Manikanta, followed by the National Anthem.
