Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio inaugurated the newly recognized Kezoma Urban Station at Kezoma on 28th October 2022. He was accompanied by a host of Advisors, MLAs, and dignitaries at the inaugural programme held at the Kezoma Stadium.

Addressing the gathering of Kezoma, Kezobasa, Kezotown, and Sakhabama, Rio congratulated them for achieving their long-awaited dreams of Kezotown recognized as Kezoma Urban Station and expressed happiness for the achievement. On the occasion, he announced that he had sanctioned money for the construction of an indoor stadium at the Station which can also be utilized as a multi-purpose hall.

Pointing out that for the development of the station, Rio said the first and foremost is to have a circular road for easy access to life and suggested bringing out a master plan (mapping) for the station with assistance from the Urban Development department. He said the government will make plans and work hand in hand with them to accomplish their vision for the station in days to come.

Stating that more than 50 percent of the population was found to be shifted towards the urban areas as per Nagaland 2011 Census, Rio said that be it rural or urban, one has to work hard for his livelihood. As for urban, Rio said that business or entrepreneurship plays an important role to grow the economy where he encouraged the youth to get themselves trained in such areas for economic growth and all-round development. He also suggested coming up with a daily market or weekly market as the Station is located near the National Highway. Rio further called upon them to maintain the naga tradition & custom, to have self-respect, to follow and implement the rules laid down by the government and to have unity and strive hard for further development of the Station and wished Kezoma Urban Station a success. Earlier, Rio also unveiled the monolith where Assistant Pastor of Koinonia Baptist Church, Rokopra Mekro offered the dedicatory prayer.

Advisor Youth Resources & Sports, Er. Zale Neikha on behalf of his people thanked Neiphiu Rio under whose leadership the desires of the Kezo range people, for more than 50 years, could be achieved. He also thanked Advisor Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire for recommending the matter to the Government. Zale further sought the support of the Chief Minister to bring government developmental programs for the upliftment of the range people.

Speaker, NLA, Sharingain Longkumer and a host of dignitaries attended the programme. Short speeches were also delivered by the Chairmen of four villages: Viyol Thuphre VCC Sakhabama, Medovi Yongo VCC Kezobasa, Krocho Kiso Chairman Kezo Town, Kikrosa Naki VCC Kezoma and Vice President (Judicial) APO, Zadeho Rikha who all thanked the government led by Neiphiu Rio for making their dreams a success.

Welcome speech was delivered by Kroneicho Naki, Convenor Organising Committee while invocation was pronounced by Kehovi Tase, Executive Secretary JBCC, and Kedivi Mekro, Treasurer Organising Committee proposed the vote of thanks.
