To create more awareness amongst the masses on the importance of wearing masks, Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Anoop Kinchi IAS, distributed washable cotton masks to the migrant workers and the poor and needy people in the streets of Dimapur city, today the 15th May 2020. Wearing of masks has become mandatory for all, as a preventive measure to fight the pandemic. However, for the poor and needy and the migrant workers, it becomes economically difficult to buy even the triple layer masks on a daily basis. The distribution of cotton washable masks by DC Dimapur was a blessing for many poor people and the migrant workers, as they would be able to use it for at least a year.

Further, DC Dimapur also accompanied the announcement team and created awareness on hand hygiene and social distancing specially in the crowded locations and went to the people directly and motivated them. Anoop informed that he would continue with the campaign as much as possible, stating that wearing of mask, hand hygiene and social distancing were the three most important steps to be practiced by everyone to keep away from the virus. He also personally visited some shops to check whether ban tobacco items were being sold. DPRO Dimapur Lolano Patton also accompanied the DC at the awareness campaign.
