Deputy Commissioner Kohima Gregory Thejawelie, NCS has informed that  in the wake of some returnees being tested positive for Covid-19, it has come to the knowledge of the undersigned that some people from certain Colonies/Wards are restricting free movement of the heathcare workers, cleaners, drivers and all other frontline workers from performing their assigned duties diligently. Therefore with a view to effectively contain and manage the pandemic from escalating, the general public is hereby ordered not to discriminate the frontline workers and their family(s) in any manner whatsoever.

Further, there are reports on unwanted directives/statements being issued by certain individuals/organizations obstructing entry of person(s) to colonies/wards even after completion of the stipulated quarantine period or for home quarantine as per the existing orders and guidelines of the Government which is an infringement on individual rights as well as violation of the Government standing Orders. Moreover, there are also reports of obstructions/refusals for setting up of quarantine Center(s) by the Government in colonies/wards which is taken seriously as against the directive of the Government issued vide letter No. GAB-1/COM/GEN-1/2020, Dated Kohima, the 21st May 2020.

Henceforth, any individuals/organizations found obstructing the initiative of the Government in its fight against Covid-19 infection within Kohima District shall be arrested and booked under relevant sections of IPC, Section 51 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and the Epidemic Disease Act, 1897.

This order shall come into force with immediate effect.
