A joint verification of the on-going construction of the District Hospital at Longleng Headquarters was conducted on 16th September 2026, under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner, Longleng, W. Manpai Phom, accompanied by the Superintendent of Police, Chief Medical Officer, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Longleng, concerned engineer from the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima and the contractor.
During the verification, the team carried out a thorough inspection of the hospital site and reviewed various aspects of the on-going construction. Certain alterations, improvements and practical suggestions were discussed with the contractor and engineers to ensure that the completed facility is functional and suited to the requirements of the hospital. Particular attention was drawn to the ICU Sister’s Room and the functionality of the washrooms, including the need to maintain proper slopes and drainage to prevent water stagnation and ensure ease of use.
In view of the on-going landslide and road connectivity issues in the district, the Deputy Commissioner impressed upon the contractor to make necessary arrangements to ensure that all essential construction materials required for completion are procured and kept available at the site. The team also discussed the need to use the Tangha–Kangching–Merangkong Road as an alternate route for transportation of construction materials in the event that the main highway is closed or becomes inaccessible, so that the prevailing road conditions do not further affect the progress of the work.
As the hospital building is nearing completion, the Deputy Commissioner also emphasized the importance of having the concerned engineers from the Department stationed at the site during the final stage of construction, to facilitate timely supervision, resolution of technical issues and completion of the remaining works as per the approved specifications.
