Upon receiving numerous concerns raised from all walks of life regarding the poor quality of water supply in Noklak Town and its surrounding villages which causes a lot of water borne diseases, Deputy Commissioner Noklak, Reny Wilfred, IAS paid a visit to PHE water supply sources of Noklak town on 2nd September 2020 along with Admin Officers, DBs, PHED, representatives from Students Union and Village Council members.

After inspecting the spot and the surrounding areas, DC and his team found that the water source is being contaminating by droppings with dung and urine by mithuns and wild animals which visit the same source to drink water.

The water source which are directly connected to the streams are supplying to the citizens of Noklak Town without any proper water purification system and filtrations tanks, according to the PHE department.

The water source is located at a distance of more than 3 Kms away from Noklak Town while there is another water source located approximately 12 Kms away from the town prone to damages every now and then particular during monsoon seasons. Therefore, the urgent need of having fencing facilities in the sources and a filtration tanks is required at the earliest.

DC urged the PHED department to initiate necessary steps to improve the water source and install necessary filtration mechanisms under available provision.
