DTF KOHIMA CONDUCTS SURPRISE CHECKING AND AWARENESS DRIVE ON COVID- 19 PROTOCOLS

            To oversee the enforcement of COVID-19 protocols in the State Capital, especially the mandatory wearing of masks in public places, the District Task Force Kohima on COVID-19 conducted a surprise checking and awareness drive in the capital’s streets and shops at several locations on 5th April 2021. Many violators were penalized as per the guidelines while masks were also distributed to the people.

            Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kohima N Bhavani Sri, IAS, said the surprise checking and awareness drive was initiated to sensitize the people on the usage of wearing masks. Sri said the drive was carried out by the district administration, police, medical department and DBs. In future, if needed, more such drive will be carried out, she informed.

            SDO (C) Kohima R Daniel Angami, said citizens should be aware of how to take care of themselves. “With the surge of the second wave and the rise of positive cases in our state as well, we have to go back to people and plea with them to wear masks,” he stated. He said wearing masks is the least that citizens can do to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

            The drive was conducted at PHQ–BOC junction, main town, Old Tata parking- Keziekie, Razhu Point- Super market area, Jail colony junction, High School Junction- Sanuoru Bridge, Mohonkhola- Dzüvüru bridge and Tinpati- Census Office road.
