In connection with the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Photo Electoral Roll 2026, Secretary of the Election Commission of India, Binod Kumar, reviewed the progress of the SIR exercise in Kohima district on August 20, 2026. Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Awa Lorin, and Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, NCS, were also present.
The review meeting was attended by the District Election Officer (DEO), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) of the concerned polling stations.
Secretary Binod Kumar urged the officials to give their best and take the exercise seriously, stating that the SIR would have a generational impact on the State and the country. He discussed the challenges faced by officials in polling stations where mapping remains low and directed them to ensure the distribution and collection of Enumeration Forms are completed well in advance so that the exercise can be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
He advised the EROs and AEROs to visit the field and discuss the issues with BLOs in areas where SIR figures are low.
