For the effective implementation of COTPA 2003, an Enforcement Squad Mon went for an Enforcement drive on sale of tobacco products within 100 yards of educational institutions on 29th September 2021 at Mon Town. The team consisted of representatives from District Administration, Excise department, Police department and District Tobacco Control Cell, Mon. The team was led by Dr. I. Simon Sumi, District Nodal Officer NTCP Mon and Ms. NyeamyingKonyak, District Consultant NTCP Mon.

The total of 18 shops were penalized for selling tobacco products near educational institutions. The team seized the products and destroyed the items on the outskirt of the town.
