An enforcement drive on sale of tobacco products was carried out under National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) Mon on 25th September 2020 in Mon Town. The team was led by E.Nyeamying Konyak District Consultant (NTCP) Mon, Police and Dobashis from district administration.

The drive was conducted with an initiative to make Mon Hq as tobacco free and also as a precautionary measure towards spreading of coronavirus in the community as people consuming tobacco products tend to spit in public places and creating risk for the spread of deadly virus. Altogether 25 shops were found selling tobacco products in Mon town, most of which were small retail shops. The seize products were burnt at the outskirt area of the Mon town. The team said it would further continue to conduct such enforcement drive all over the district.
