The District Health Society Longleng, in collaboration with the Department of Health and Family Welfare, organized the launching programme for the "First 1000 Days" initiative on 19th July 2023 at the CMO conference hall in Longleng. Dharam Raj, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Longleng, graced the event as a special guest.

Dr. Tiasunep, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Longleng, delivered the welcome address and presented an insightful journey of the "First 1000 Days" through a detailed PowerPoint presentation. He emphasized the importance of disseminating information about this programme and encouraging people to avail the facilities provided.

In his address, the special guest expressed his honor to be a part of the program, acknowledging its focus on people's well-being. The program aims to combat malnutrition, which remains a significant concern. He stressed the importance of caring for both the mother and child during the critical first 1000 days following delivery to ensure proper nutrition and healthy development. He called for collaboration with the government and understanding of the responsibilities of parents and community members in ensuring children's well-being.

The programme featured various presentations on crucial topics such as Antenatal importance, Vaccination in Children, Breastfeeding, Early Childhood Development, Convergence at Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Day, PMMVY scheme, Nutritional support during the first 1000 days, and Social and Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) through SHG institutions.

A technical session for healthcare workers was also conducted, making the program comprehensive and impactful. Representatives from churches, wards, PSC, Phomla Hoichem, and line departments attended the launching program.

The event was graced by the Deputy Commissioner, Longleng, and officials from the medical and line departments.
