Minister for Planning and Coordination, Land Resource and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu launched the first issue of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Spectrum Newsletter on 29th September 2020, at SDG, Hall, Planning and Coordination Department, Kohima.

Minister, Neiba Kronu, while launching the newsletter said that the SDG 17 goals will reach the grassroot level in the state through the Spectrum Newsletter. He also said that the 17 goals will be published in quarterly newsletter. The minister also said that he had apprised the Chief Minister for inclusion on a wider approach of SDG in the upcoming document of vision 2030. By focusing on SDG from today, he stated that we shall be leaving a rich legacy for the future generation in all aspects.

In his welcome address, Addl. Development Commissioner mentioned that the SDG spectrum newsletters will be released to stakeholders in the village level and also in every department in the state. It will also be distributed to the different colleges in the state so as to share the awareness of SDG which has been set by the UNO.

Addl. Chief Secretary & Development Commissioner, J. Alam said that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) or Global Goals are a collection of 17 interlinked goals which was finalized by the UN in 2015. For the proper implementation of SDG in Nagaland with the help of UNDP, the SDG coordination centre was set up. He further said that this newsletter will highlight the functions of SDG.

A power point presentation on the functions of SDG in the state was given by DDC, Augustine M. Yanthan.

The 17 SDGs are: (1) No Poverty, (2) Zero Hunger, (3) Good Health and Well-being, (4) Quality Education, (5) Gender Equality, (6) Clean Water and Sanitation, (7) Affordable and Clean Energy, (8) Decent Work and Economic Growth, (9) Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, (10) Reducing Inequality, (11) Sustainable Cities and Communities, (12) Responsible Consumption and Production, (13) Climate Action, (14) Life Below Water, (15) Life On Land, (16) Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, (17) Partnerships for the Goals.
