In a significant step towards the advancement of tribal farming communities, a pioneering initiative titled "Livelihood Improvement of Tribal Farmers through Technological Empowerment and Input Support System" was launched on November 9, 2023, at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Longleng District, Nagaland.
Operational under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP), the program garnered the active participation of key persons. R. Yuimi, Program Assistant at KVK Longleng, chaired the event, underscoring the pivotal role of technological interventions and robust input support systems in empowering tribal farmers.
Distinguished guests at the ceremony included Dr. Mahak Singh, a Scientist (Animal Science) from ICAR Jharnapani Nagaland Centre, who enlightened the audience on the crucial role of animal science in agricultural development. Dr. Hari Charan Kalita, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Longleng, emphasized the significance of sustainable farming practices for the welfare of tribal communities. Dr. Homeswar Kalita, Joint Director of ICAR Medziphema, provided insights into the broader goals of the program.
The event was graced by the presence of the Guest of Honour, Dr. Samuel Akho Konyak P, Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) of Longleng, who commended the collaborative efforts aimed at uplifting the tribal farming community.
As part of the initiative, approximately 60 high-bred piglets and top-quality feed for a month were distributed to farmers during the event, showcasing a tangible commitment to the program's objectives.
