The 76th Anniversary of Indian Independence was celebrated at Meluri sub Division. MLA Yithachu graced the function as the chief guest and he unfurled the national flag followedby National anthem by VGs piper band. The chief guest read out Independence Day speech and took the Rashtriya salute from the following parade contingents including 5th NAP Meluri, Village guard (VG), NCC Christian Hr.secondary School, NCC, St. Xavier Hr.secondary School, Govt. Hr. Secondary school Meluri, Christian Hr. secondary School Meluri, St. Xavier Hr. Secondary School Meluri  and Village Guard piper band.

The Parade contingents was led by ABSI, Mhalie Pochury and parade Second -in- Command, Hv. Pusasu. Highlights of the day included special number by Chuvirho, patriotic choreography from S. Pethüry Montessori school Meluri, cultural item each from Riehuope village & Khumiasü village.

The chief guest also inspected exhibition stalls which were displayed from various VLo's and SHGs under the department of Social welfare, Rural development and Agriculture.
