Pungro Town under Kiphire District celebrated 76 th Independence Day on 15 th August
2022 at Public Ground Pungro Town with Deputy Speaker NLA, T Yangseo Sangtam as the
special guest.
Earlier flag hoisting was done in all the government and private Offices. Minister inspect
the parade contingents and took salute from seven parade contingents. Later he unfurled the
National flag and address his speech. The parade contingent were   from pungro Village, GHSS
Pungro, LFS Pungro, Christian School, Saramati School, Mt.Horeb School and Zhimkiur VG
Pipe Band lead by parade commander Kekheise Tepo ABSI and Pongrhong Hav.
Special guest also gave away commendation certificate to Homithong Havelder Major of
Village Guard and Kepithong, Sepoy of Village Guard from Fakim village respectively. Special
presentation was done by LFS Pungro and Taekwondo Association Pungro.
Special guest also inaugurated the stalls put up by various departments and SHGs. The
program ended with the football exhibition match between ADC XI vs NGOs XI.
