The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at Pughoboto Sub-Division, Zunheboto on Thursday, 15th August 2025. The celebration was graced by MLA, Dr. Sukhato A. Sema, as the Chief Guest.

The official program commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag and the Rashtriya Salute by the Chief Guest, followed by the National Anthem led by government teachers. A parade inspection was conducted by Dr.Sema, after which he addressed the gathering, emphasizing the values of freedom, unity, and progress.

The march past was one of the key highlights of the morning session, with contingents led by Kakito ABI of the 8th NAP A. Coy, showcasing discipline and coordination.

As part of the celebrations, Certificates of Recognition were awarded to: The Office of the Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer, Pughoboto, for their dedicated efforts in improving agricultural practices and ensuring the welfare and productivity of local farmers; The Government Higher Secondary School, Pughoboto, in recognition of its efforts to promote discipline and a conducive learning environment; Vishepu Swu, Village Council Chairman of Ghokimi village, for his commendable initiatives in community welfare and development.

Another major highlight of the day was the inauguration of a Public Waiting Shed at the New Administrative Complex. The Resting Shed, constructed under the LADP 2025–26, was inaugurated by Dr.Sukhato A. Sema in the presence of ADC Pughoboto, Tiameren Chang, NCS.

The event was smoothly conducted with T. Esther Lotha (G/T) and Inavi Wotsa (G/T) as the comperes of the day.

The evening session included a Football Exhibition Match between ADC XI and MLA XI, followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony and the ceremonial Beating of the Retreat. Government employees’ attendance was duly recorded.

The day concluded on a high note, reflecting the spirit of unity, resilience, and progress as citizens and officials came together to celebrate the nation’s independence with pride and dedication.
