The 2nd phase training programme for Civil Defence Volunteers, Wardens and Chief Wardens in Dimapur district was conducted from January 14 to January 20, 2026, at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, DC Court, Dimapur.
The opening programme of the training was held on January 14, 2026, and was chaired by Viboto H. Sumi, SI. Opening remarks were delivered by M. Yingnyei Konyak, District Commandant, Home Guards, Civil Defence and State Disaster Response Force (HG, CD & SDRF), Dimapur.
Addressing the gathering, Litsenthung Kikon, EAC, Dimapur stressed that civil defence volunteers forms the backbone of emergency response at the community level. He stated that trained wardens and volunteers play a vital role not only during natural and man-made disasters but also in peacetime emergencies by ensuring public safety, coordination and timely response. He highlighted the importance of preparedness, discipline and teamwork in saving lives and minimising loss of property, and urged the participants to take the training seriously and apply the skills learned in real-life situations. He further encouraged the volunteers to work in close coordination with the district administration and other line departments to strengthen disaster management mechanisms at the grassroots level.
The training was attended by more than 90 Civil Defence wardens and volunteers from Dimapur Municipal Council wards 1, 5, 7, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19 and 23, along with participants from Signal Angami Village. Resource persons imparted both theoretical and practical training on disaster preparedness, search and rescue operations, first aid, emergency response mechanisms and community support during emergencies.
The programme concluded with closing remarks by the chairperson. The training was organised by the Home Guards, Civil Defence and State Disaster Response Force, Nagaland.
