Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, DDMA Mon, Wennyei Konyak, NCS has informed that Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx) will be conducted on 30th April 2026 from 8:00 Am onwards in Mon District. The exercise will simulate a disaster scenario involving an earthquake and extreme weather conditions to assess preparedness, emergency response mechanisms and inter-departmental coordination among all line departments and stakeholders.
On the same day, from 6:00 PM onwards, a mock exercise titled “Operation Night Guard” Civil Defence Air raid/Blackout Exercise will also be conducted as part of civil defence preparedness measures.
Both Exercises will involve siren activation and temporary blackout measures to test emergency alert systems, inter-agency coordination and public response during emergency situations.
Therefore, the general public of Mon Town are informed that these activities are only mock exercises and advised not to panic or alarm when the siren is activated. Citizens are requested to remain calm and extend full cooperation for the successful conduct of the exercises. Further, the public are requested to switch off all non-essential lights, including inverters and external lighting, for approximately 15 minutes when sirens are sounded during both mock exercises.
